Product Performance
Different terrain and riding styles can benefit from specific shoe features. Grip, protection, weight, and breathability are all factors that can affect your on-bike experience.
Level 4 Flex provides a strong power transfer to the pedal, support for long descents, and enough compliance for a secure pedal connection while offering a small amount of trail feedback.
Our medium volume last can accommodate a vast range of foot shapes, but an average volume foot will be most comfortable. Larger feet will be comfortable sizing a half-size up.
These are my first Boa style mtb shoes and I will not be going back to laces. The first few rides it was very uncomfortable around ball of the foot area. I eventually figured out this was due to laces never really putting proper tightness in that area. With a boa it tightens all of the shoe equally so my foot wasn't use to that, after 3 rides my foot adjusted to it and now its no longer uncomfortable. So if you get your first boa shoe and have a similar issue thats likely why.
I normal run a 10.5 from my five ten freerider pros but I needed an 11 for these so they do run a little small for me.
Airflow is great, I can actually feel the flow through the shoe. It may be a problem in the colder times of the year but for now in the summer its excellent.
Coming from the five ten this shoe has a much taller sole. It took a few rides to get the feel right and I did have to raise my seat slightly to maintain a proper pedaling position that felt efficient.
In or out in Seconds.
Helpful with my knee pads. No more debris in laces!
Very uncomfortable digs into your ankle. I have the low top and love it
Hi Anthony, thanks for your feedback. We're glad you like the low top! Sorry to hear the Tallac Mid wasn't comfortable for you. We appreciate your input and hope you find the perfect fit with our other styles.
I wear a 9.5 for a comfort fit. I size down to a 9.0 for MTB shoes and used 9.0 Wildcats for 2 years and they were fantastic. These are even larger than those and I wish I sized down to an 8.5 to have a shorter toe box.
The shoes start off insanely stiff but seem to be breaking in after 2 rides.
Hi Lucas, thanks for sharing your feedback! We're glad to hear the shoes are breaking in well. We made adjustments in 2025 after hearing most felt our shoes ran small. Today we'd like to say we fixed that with customer feedback. If you need a different fit, sizing down might be a good option. We appreciate your review and hope you continue to enjoy your rides!
Boa should be a thing on all shoes. I have a low volume foot and have no issues. Fire shoe!
